The Monk's Habit Franziskus is the replica of a religious habit of the mendicant friars from the 13th century. The so-called \"lesser brothers\" were created by Francis of Assisi and had to commit themselves to chastity and renounce all worldly possessions. Originally, Francis of Assisi did not want to found a religious order but only to live a godly life following Christ.
Don't worry, you can wear the habit even without vows of poverty and celibacy.
The cowl is made of unkempt, coarse cotton which gives it a burlap-like appearance without being so uncomfortable.
Included are the cowl, a matching gugel, and a belt rope.

The quality is excellent. Thick, strong, heavy fabric, but very comfortable to wear and not too hot.
The fit is also perfect. I was afraid it may be too long and trail on the ground, or else be too short and not look right, but it's absolutely perfect (for reference, I'm 5'7" and bought the S/M size).
Overall, and brilliant, quality product that I can see lasting for many years.
